I learned about flying from that: Taking Control Early with your Student

Here’s one from when I was flying with a student, nearing the end of training. I was struggling to get her to learn how to round out and after trying different teaching approaches, multiple ground briefs, descriptions of the correct attitude etc and repeatedly having to remind her to round out, or physically move the control column, my inner voice said she must know that she has to round out, so the next time around, I didn’t say anything. Apparently she didn’t know that she had to round out and we bounced so high, I put the power on and went round. I don’t think she ever really did learn to round out, even after that experience. I learnt that you should trust your judgement and if they aren’t getting it, they might never get it (or certainly not within 8 hrs!).
