Lleweni Parc is in many ways the realisation of a soaring dream for Rod Witter.  A glider pilot for more years than he cares to remember, Rod has flown in the area over several decades from Cosford, Bryngwyn Bach & latterly from Lleweni Parc.

Realising that the air rising from Snowdonia was always in phase with the Vale of Clwyd, Rod set out to find the perfect site to take advantage of that fantastic rising air – & finally found it at Lleweni in the late 1980s.

Lleweni Parc is an enterprise owned & supported by Rod & Sue Witter who are passionate about promoting the future of gliding in the UK. They particularly back junior gliding through ideas such as launch deals & accommodation options & there is many a junior who has experienced his or her first wave above North Wales with Rod in his Duo Discus or Arcus.

Chris Gill is the Chief Flying Instructor. He came to us from Sutton Bank & operates the Arcus glider to provide soaring coaching for inexperienced pilots. We find that many clubs can’t provide this kind of coaching, which attracts many of our customers. Chris has done lots of enterprising flying since coming here & has spent many hours soaring hills low down, lots of wave flights over 20,000ft & flying many KMs in thermal. Unsurprisingly he is currently holding the record for our ridge task at an average speed of over 160kph! Come & beat him!

Adam Berrisford has joined us here at Lleweni Parc having experience instructing at a number of clubs around the UK, primarily in Bicester, Oxfordshire. He looks after the Motor Glider operations here, in addition to instructing in conventional glider. Adam also enjoys helping launch gliders either by towing them up using a powered aircraft, or winch launching them in to the sky. Whether it is your first time venturing in to the skies, or you are looking to progress, Adam is keen to share his passion for flying with you.

Ian Stewart is Groundsman for Lleweni Parc & also serves as an excellent winch driver. Together with Rod he is responsible for the maintenance of the beautiful woodland & water environments & paths at Lleweni Parc. Ian is our resident fishing expert
