Description

Would you like to have been a real airline pilot? Well now you can be – nearly.

We are now offering a virtual type rating on Airbus A320 or the Boeing 737, including 12 hours on a real simulator, to see what it would have been like.

The course consists of ground school of the 320, which you do at home on your PC or at our flight centre. This covers all the vital technical knowledge that you will need. This course is designed for us by a leading online learning company – Vprep. (the 737 course is from a different provider. Please contact us for details)

The simulator course is split into 2 parts. The initial & the advanced. This is because it is impossible to cover everything in 12 hours of the simulator. (A full professional course would be 40 hours of simulator split between 2 trainees). So the initial course will contain the basic elements needed to fly the aircraft & technical subjects such as engines, electrics, fuel & hydraulics.

The advanced course will cover all the ancillary items such as flight controls, pneumatics, & many more. You will have access to the full technical library so there is nothing stopping you learning

about these subjects in addition to the main subjects covered when doing the initial course.

When you have completed the relevant technical subjects for your specific course, you will come to the flight centre at Coventry Airport for your simulator sessions. These consist of a briefing followed by 4 hours in the simulator. Ideally, this should be done on 3 consecutive days to give you the 12 hours of simulator but we can accommodate different schedules. Should you feel you need additional training in certain elements, you can purchase extra sessions at a discounted rate.

Ideally, we would want to run the simulator with 2 candidates at the same time, so if you know someone who would like to partner with you, please both get in touch. For a dual course, the simulator time will be 24 hours (12 hours as Pilot Flying & 12 as Pilot Monitoring) & spread over 6 days. This way you get exposure to extra simulator time & we will be able to teach you CRM (crew resource management) & teach you how to work as a team member. If you don’t know of a partner, we may be able to find one for you. It s important that partners have the same level of basic aviation knowledge so they can progress at the same rate.

This is a unique opportunity to see the real workload of todays’ modern jet pilot. Once you have qualified, you will receive your wings & a certificate from FSM & be entitled to substantial discounts for future flights with us. You will also be allowed to take your guests on flight without one of our instructors.

Line Training Course

Once you have completed either the initial or advanced type rating course, you will then have the opportunity to sign up for the FSM Line Training Course.

This will involve coming to the flight Centre & operating exactly as you would as a real crew member. You will be given your flight plan, weather & NOTAMS. You will decide what fuel to take & off you go to your aircraft, board your passengers, push back, start-up & taxi out for your ‘real’ flight. You will operate the sector just as you would a real crew.

You can have as many hours as you wish for the course, but the minimum will be 12 hours & at a cost of £1999. Extra hours by arrangement.

If you are interested in these courses, please contact us for further details.

Local accommodation at discount rates is available.
