FIND THE RIGHT HELICOPTER TRAINING COURSE FOR YOU
Whether you’re new to the aviation industry and fancy a trial lesson, or you’re an experienced pilot looking to gain new skills – you’ve come to the right place.

We offer helicopter pilot training programmes in-house and also facilitate courses at the best training schools around the world. To be a helicopter training academy, you need a helicopter pilot license from the civil training aviation authority and that license is to conduct training under an ATO (approved training organisation). Each EASA CAA training course has to be approved by the CAA. If we don’t offer the course you’re searching for, let us know and we may be able to get ATO approved for the specific course you’re interested in.

Top Tip
Did you know there are two types of training schools: Declared Training Organisation (DTO) and Approved Training Organisations (ATO)? Due to the higher qualifications needed within an ATO, only they can perform advanced helicopter training courses. Don’t forget to ask your school what qualification they have!

PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE (PPL)
If it’s always been your dream to fly a helicopter, treating your friends, family or business partners to a breathtaking birds-eye view, you’ll need a Private Pilot License. Acquiring a Private Pilot License (PPL) (H) license will allow you to safely and skillfully operate a helicopter for non-commercial flights under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

Our helicopter training school will take you through theoretical and practical modules to gain the necessary training to fly under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) on a single-engine two or four seat light helicopter.

The duration of the course varies, but it typically takes between 6-12 months to obtain a Private Pilot License.

EASA INTEGRATED AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT LICENSE (ATPL)
Prepare for a future career as a helicopter pilot. When available our full-time intensive Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) training course takes 18 months to complete and is suitable for those with little to no experience. You will learn from the ground up, and successful graduation will provide you with a Frozen ATPL, (ATPL theoretical knowledge, Commercial Pilots License with Instrument Rating (CPL/IR) & Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) completion certificate).

EASA COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE WITH INSTRUMENT RATING (CPL/IR)
Those interested in securing employment as a professional pilot on a smaller helicopter, when available, may be interested in our Integrated Commercial Pilot License (CPL) training with ME/IR course. It is a self-funded, full-time professional pilot training course and takes 16 months to complete. You don’t need experience to take this route. However, you will be required to have at least two A-level passes or equivalent academic qualifications (64 UCAS points). You must not have previously completed an undergraduate degree.

Successful graduation will provide you with an EASA Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating (CPL/IR) and EASA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge and increases eligibility for airline placement.

HELICOPTER OPERATOR CADET PROGRAMME
The Helicopter Operator Cadet Programme is designed for talented and aspiring aviators to be Co-Pilots, Captains and future Aviation Managers. You don’t need to have had any previous experience to apply for this helicopter career programme.

HeliSpeed Academy is going to mentor the course along with several world-leading helicopter operators. The full-time course will take over 20 months to complete and is characterised by excellent training, leading to a ‘frozen’ Airline Transport Pilot.

Successful applicants will be provided with a conditional offer of employment by one of our Helicopter Operators before training even begins. The HeliSpeed Integrated ATPL delivers training for a flagship Pilot Cadet programme, leading to an exciting flying career as a First Officer / Co Pilot in larger helicopters, with a global operator.

BSC HONS PROFESSIONAL AVIATION PILOT PRACTICE
We can help to facilitate a BSc Hons Professional Aviation Pilot Practice from The University of Central Lancashire, (United Kingdom). When approved, this course will allow you to develop high-level knowledge and a work-based understanding of the skills required to become a professional helicopter pilot.

Those who enrol in the Integrated ATPL Integrated Course will have the opportunity to combine an industry-endorsed degree with their professional pilot training. Everyday practice will be assessed in an academic framework. It’s also possible to integrate the degree into selected Helicopter Operator Courses.

This course is suitable for those with little to no experience. As you progress through the course, all aspects of your pilot training experience will count towards your degree, without the need for unnecessary duplication.

This full-time degree eliminates the need to attend a university campus. You’ll gain academic credit as well as two professional qualifications (ATPL license + BSc (Hons) degree) within three years.

EASA THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE FULL-TIME & DISTANCE LEARNING
If you’d prefer a more flexible training course, why not complete the ATPL courses through modular training? This option is suitable for those interested in building a solid foundation of knowledge and who already have a Private Pilot License (PPL). This course conveniently allows you to break theoretical training phases into manageable blocks.
