Victoria Aerial Photos and Surveys is a 100% locally (Victoria, BC) owned and operated, private, and independent company employing RPAS commercially. In operation since 2012, we offer a wide range of safe and professional RPAS services to the general public, corporations and government services in a wide spectrum of applications.

VAP is also active in the community as a Silver Sponsor of the University of Victoria’s Engineering department Aero Club and is active with training and equipping the RPAS pilots of tomorrow. We also volunteer with the SPCA animal rescue for drone operations and with virtual tours for the 2021 open house.

CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT SITE MONITORING

VAP is able to photograph and video development and construction sites in order to monitor and document progress and site status.
We can also assess the site for concerns by giving a complete bird’s eye view with aerial 3D maps which can be developed as well.

How It Works?
-VAP crew will visit the construction or remediation site with all requiered safety gear along with the UAS kit. We then do a UAV flight over the entire site and obtain shots and video from various heights and angles.
-These flights are generally on time intervals specific to the job site’s needs (usually 2-3 weeks for each shoot).
-We then file process and file the photos with the date, times and exact geo-tagged (GPS) location and deliver them to you.
-The photos can be used to create time lapse photography allowing you to see the progress from start to finish like never before!

Using our brand new UAV technology, we can safely deliver HD digital photograph and close up video of the entire roof area, and envelope of a building. At Victoria Aerial Photos and Survey we can do routine inspections, or investigate a rooftop on request.
-Fast response times, and emergency call outs.

-Skilled UAV pilot can fly the quad to within feet of the structure and safely deliver HD photos and video on a memory stick.
-With high MP still shots on your laptop or I Phone/Android you can then zoom and investigate in fine detail.

-The UAV with a pro HD camera (4K) can track, document and monitor your aging roof or envelope for trouble such as defects, cracks, leaks, decay, and water pooling.
-The UAV can record video and photograph the gutters, drains, downspouts and vents for proper water drainage.

-Building Thermography: Excess heat/heat escape. We can alert facility staff of abnormally high temperatures and manage lighting and heating
-Public Safety: Search and Rescue & police work applications of thermal drones has proven to save lives. Surveillance and security by day or night can alert staff human presence without having to ID individuals
-Energy Sector: Maintenance and prevention. We can offer continuous or random inspection of high voltage power lines, pipelines to electric panels or structures on buildings. Hot or cold spots can be detected early and monitored
-Agriculture: Observe, count, plus determine health of crops. Gather information on soil condition and irrigation
-Inspections: Drone thermography allows inspection of dangerous /hard to reach areas including environmental concerns
-Firefighting: Thermography can locate victims in smoke filled hazardous environments detect hotspots, wildfire threats and more
-Wildlife Observation: Without disturbing wildlife, drone thermography allows to assess, count, and observe wildlife and/or livestock

ADVANTAGES
Our thermal images shows you a visual picture so temperatures over a large area can be compared. The new sensors are also capable of catching moving targets in real time.

The drones thermal camera sensor is able to find deterioration, i.e., higher temperature components prior to their failure. Drones with thermal cameras can be used to measure or observe in areas inaccessible or hazardous for other methods.

It is a non-destructive test method. Drones/RPAS with this new technology can be used to find defects in shafts, pipes, and other metal or plastic parts. Thermography can be used to detect objects in dark areas.

RPAS BUSINESS TRAINING AND SUPPORT SERVICES

Our Objectives:

RPAS 101 is designed to teach students the basic fundamental and foundational skills and practices needed in RPAS (Remotely Pilot Aircraft Systems) and their commercial operations. We strive to study how the systems are to be used in a competent manner, while being Transport Canada legally compliant.

Course study is based on TP 15263 – Knowledge Requirements for Pilots of Unmanned Air Vehicle Systems (RPAS) 25 kg or Less, Operating within Visual Line of Sight

RPAS 200 COURSE

RPAS 200 study material includes more focus on complex operations, autonomy, air law, meteorology, air navigation, RPAS airframes and systems, payloads, radio theory, human factors, mapping, small business practice, RPAS crew, thermal cameras UAV safe handling and more.

This course will also prepare you for the Advanced Flight Review. We are now giving you the opportunity to take the Review (if you are a ready) or practice for your actual flight review during the end of class session (subject to time and class participation).

Note: You will also receive all the RPAS online Udemy sections, study guides and practice tests for all of our updated study material if only taking RPAS 200. Those taking 101 and 200 together may choose to write the 101/200 final exam at the end of RPAS 200 (Day 2).

The flight review – RPAS consists of the planning, preparation, and completion of an RPAS flight.

Although aircraft performances and weight and balance are not tested as separate exercises, it is expected that the candidate will use all the applicable performance data as well as all the approved operating procedures required for a flight.
