Browse and contact companies on AvPay, to find the most suitable and cost-effective option for your aircraft. Ensure your hangarage service provider is qualified and competent to handle your aircraft. Different aircraft have different operating procedures. You should check whether your handler has an International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling certification. This is an award given by the International Business Aviation Council. Use spotters where possible, to help you park your aircraft. Position them at the back of the aircraft and on each wing tip, so that you can ensure adequate clearance from other aircraft and obstructions. Use aircraft tugs where possible, to move aircraft more easily. Do not taxy aircraft into or start aircraft engines while in a hangar. Always chock your aircraft when in a hangar, in case gusts of wind enter the hangar through the doors. Be careful how you position the chocks, since farings can be damaged if tyres deflate. Take care around propellers and do not use them to push or pull the aircraft, until you have checked the Master Battery Switch is in the off position. Place drip trays under each engine cowling, to help you monitor leaks. Always use canopy cover, to prevent canopies from clouding over time through the effects of cosmic radiation. Hangarage can also be found by browsing the AvPay Airport Directory.

Here are a few tips on how to protect your aircraft when parked in a hangar.
Choose a hangar that provides adequate protection from weather elements, including wind, rain, snow, and excessive heat or cold. Ensure the hangar has appropriate security measures in place, such as controlled access, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems to deter theft or unauthorized access. Verify that your aircraft insurance coverage includes protection for damage or theft that may occur while the aircraft is parked in the hangar. Regularly inspect the hangar for any structural issues, leaks, or pest infestations that may compromise the safety and security of the aircraft. Ensure the hangar doors are secure and functioning properly. Consider additional security measures like door sensors or locks for added protection. Equip the hangar with fire suppression systems, such as fire extinguishers or sprinklers, and ensure they are regularly inspected and maintained. Implement measures to prevent pests like insects, rodents, or birds from entering the hangar, as they can cause damage to the aircraft’s interior or wiring. Use dehumidifiers or moisture-absorbing materials in the hangar to minimize moisture levels and prevent corrosion or damage to the aircraft. Disconnect and remove the aircraft’s battery or ensure it is properly maintained to prevent power drain or potential fire hazards. Cover the aircraft’s interior with appropriate protective materials, such as seat covers and instrument panel covers, to prevent dust accumulation or damage. Conduct regular inspections of the aircraft while it is parked in the hangar to identify any signs of damage, leaks, or maintenance issues promptly. Periodically review and update security measures, including surveillance systems, locks, and access controls, to ensure ongoing protection for your aircraft. By following these steps, you can enhance the safety, security, and overall well-being of your aircraft while it is parked in an airfield hangar.
