A PPR Request (Prior Permission Required) is the process of contacting an ATSU (Air Traffic Services Unit) FISO (Flight Information Service Officer) or airfield manager, asking them for permission to fly to their airport. While PPR is not a requirement to fly to every airport, it does have flight safety advantages in that if gives the airport the opportunity to brief each incoming pilot of any local activities of note, before they climb into the cockpit. PPR can also be an important means for double-checking an airport is stocked-up on the appropriate aviation fuel for your aircraft, before you land. An airport will typically want to know in advance the aircraft type, registration, call sign, date and time of arrival, number of passengers on board and the contact details of the pilot in command of the arriving aircraft. A PPR Request can be submitted through each airport’s profile, on the AvPay Airport Directory.
