Launch from the aircraft carrier, fly air combat dogfights & aerobatic missions in our Supersonic F/A-18 Hornet Jet Fighter Flight Simulator, your flying instructor will guide you through a take-off & close formation flying followed by some aerobatic manoeuvres to acclimatise you to the g-force, & then you will be introduced to tail chasing & air combat against your opponent.

Manoeuvre your aeroplane to get on the bad guy’s tail. Once you’re in a firing position, squeeze the trigger – “guns guns guns!!” If you’re successful in shooting down the bandit, then it’s an obligatory cheer of “yeehah, jester’s dead” & back to the airfield for a flyby of the tower – assuming, of course, that the pattern is not full…!

Overview:

You will be kitted out in a military flying suit*. Then choose your call-sign (“Maverick”, “Iceman” etc.) for the session ahead.

Briefing:

You will be taught how to fly aerobatics & air combat manoeuvres.

Aircraft:

Climb into the ejector seat & take the controls in a full size F/A-18 Hornet.

Take-off:

Launch from the aircraft carrier, manoeuvring in the climb & learn the effects of the aircraft controls & aerobatics manoeuvres.

Air Combat:

Shoot the bad guy down! (How hard can it be?)

Return to base:

Perform a fighter pilot flyby re-join to l&. (Buzz the Tower!)

Exit aircraft:

Exit the aircraft & talk about how great you were!

Debrief:

Debrief with your instructor, review your air combat results & receive a flight certificate with the opportunity to take some photos.

F/A-18 Hornet – Data & Performance

The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter & attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing – check out our Boeing 737 Simulator)

The F/A-18 Hornet was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, & excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. The aircraft can perform fighter escort, fleet air defence, suppression of enemy air defences, air interdiction, close air support, & aerial reconnaissance. Its versatility & reliability have proven it to be a valuable carrier asset.

The F/A-18 Hornet first saw combat action during the 1986 United States bombing of Libya & subsequently participated in the 1991 Gulf war & 2003 Iraq war.
