First Rescue

In the summer of 2014, friends Michael Schneider & Brian Orter embarked on their first rescue mission. A litter of abandoned “ditch” puppies, a Chihuahua & some mutts from North Carolina were slated to be euthanized. Springing into action, Michael & Brian rose to the occasion & volunteered their piloting skills for the last leg delivering 10 dogs so they could be adopted by loving homes.

PTTR Foundations

Less than a year later, with the powerful life curriculum taught at Landmark, Michael’s dream combining his love of aviation & rescuing animals turned into a reality. In less than 48 hours, Michael enrolled those closest to him & raised more than $10,000 in start-up funds for Pilots To The Rescue.

Daniel Baumel

Daniel Baumel

Co-Pilot/Secretary

Daniel joined Pilots To The Rescue in early 2019 after looking for a way to get involved in animal rescue flights. He came across PTTR & the rest is history! Growing up, his family adopted 3 dogs from various shelters on Long island here in New York. When Daniel isn’t on rescues, he enjoys spending time with family, friends, & his family’s adopted pup. Even though apartments in NYC are small, he plans to adopt a PTTR rescue one day! Daniel lives in Manhattan & supports Michael on flights out of Essex County Airport in Caldwell, NJ. He has been flying as a private pilot for 9 years with 300+ hours.
