Landing fees are used to help maintain airport facilities such as runway and taxiway upkeep and to help pay for ATSU (Air Traffic Service Unit) staffing costs. The fee paid depends on the aircraft type, weight, time of day (for example Out of Hours operations are more expensive), number of passengers and aircraft handling requirements.
