GROB AIRCRAFT, an aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Tussenhausen-Mattsies Germany, with its research, development, manufacturing & assembly facilities starts into a new future with the backing of H3 Aerospace as strategic partner. The new corporation operates under the name GROB AIRCRAFT SE, & is a 100% subsidiary of H3 Aerospace GmbH & Co KG.

GROB AIRCRAFT is one of the world’s largest & most experienced composite aircraft manufacturers since 1971. Within its 51 years of history Grob delivered more than 3,500 aircraft that have flown over seven million hours on five continents. Its product range evolved from pioneering gliders of the 70s, the record-breaking high altitude aircraft of the 80s & 90s, & to today’s leading edge designed & state-of-the-art business jets, as well as to training & special mission aircraft.

At its inception, GROB successfully produced 200 CIRRUS gliders under license & then soon after developed & manufactured its own ASTIR glider series in both a single seat & dual seat configuration. Already early showing its pioneering spirit, the company also introduced the TWIN III SL self-launching glider.

In the 80s, GROB received German & American (FAA) type certification for the G 109, the world’s first genuine series production composite motor glider. Taking its expertise in composite technology to a new level in the late 80´s, GROB showed its maturity as an aircraft designer & manufacturer when the company developed, tested & manufactured the G 520Egrett / Strato 1 high-altitude aircraft, gaining five world records. The Strato 2C pushed the limits even further. It was designed for altitudes as high as 78,800 feet (24 000 meters) & an endurance of 48 hours.

Design & Manufacture
Development & Design
Aircraft are designed at GROB by highly trained & experienced aeronautical engineers using state-of-the-art 3D CAD systems. The design process is supported by Finite Element Analyses enhanced software solutions featuring computer codes that enable detailed & precise strength & resistance analysis, while supporting the optimization of lightweight structures via stress monitoring.

Composite Technology
Lightness & exceptional strength are primary characteristics of full composite airframes. With smooth, rivetless surfaces, these carbon fibre structures permit superior aerodynamics. With significantly less exposure to corrosion or fatigue damage than metal, composite technology translates into low maintenance costs. The competitive advantages of composites include superior aerodynamics – owing to the material’s lightness & solidity – coupled with flexibility & high impact resistance. Even in case of damage to the airframe, onsite repairs are usually quick, easy & relatively cost effective, thus keeping down-times to a minimum.

Manufacturing
Precision: Accuracy & precision are inextricably linked to the entire production process, with respect to aircraft components. The use of precision moulds is one of the numerous measures taken to guarantee the quality & efficiency required.
Serial Production: As an integral part of the manufacturing process, a range of negative moulds & jigs is used to guarantee the efficient serial production of high-quality components, from small frames or ribs to complete fuselage shells. These accurate composite counterparts ensure that matching components are joined with extreme precision.
Metalworking: Even all-composite airframes require some metal parts such as machined brackets, hinges, & supports. At GROB, comprehensive in-house metalworking facilities are involved in producing a wide array of tailor-made metal components out of stainless steel, aluminium, & titanium.

Testing & Certification
GROB has at its disposal a wide range of facilities & resources necessary for ground & flight testing. Stress rigs & calibration equipment are employed to carry out fatigue & strength testing required for airworthiness approval. This includes assessing damage tolerance by deliberately introducing manufacturing defects for testing purposes. GROB has unparalleled experience in testing & internationally certifying composite airframes & components. The GROB flight test team is an established & highly experienced group of flight testing & certification professionals. To ensure optimal results, onboard recording & telemetry equipment is used for capturing all necessary flight data.

Quality Control
In close cooperation with EASA / JAA & Germany´s LBA, GROB Aircraft SE has developed & established test & certification procedures to guarantee that all materials used in manufacturing aircraft comply with rigorous airworthiness criteria. At the GROB laboratory, state-of-the-art equipment is used for careful scrutiny & routine testing of materials such as adhesives, support materials & reinforcing fibres. EASA / JAA-approved inspectors examine & record each stage of the manufacturing process to ensure that every aircraft produced by GROB Aircraft SE meets the highest possible standards of manufacture & airworthiness.

Service & Maintenance
Ready access to the engine, avionics & control systems on the G 120 is the key to simple & cost-effective maintenance. Incredibly, most major components on this aircraft require virtually no servicing at all. Grob offers worldwide spare part support from its German warehouse through a web based order processing system. Cooperation with different logistics suppliers assure quick deliveries. In the secured area, with individual Login, you are able to monitor the status of your requests & other issues like SB concerning your A/C or Fleet.

Maintenance Technician Training
GROB Aircraft offers maintenance training, mechanical & as well in composite repair. This training will be provided on our facility or on you site.

Pilot Training
GROB Aircraft offers familiarization training with our G 120 pilot.
