✈ Gerhard Fieseler founded the firm in 1930 at Kassel, Germany. The company became Gerhard Fieseler Werke and built notable light aircraft.
✈ The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch made its first flight on 24 May 1936. It entered service in 1937 as a liaison and observation aircraft.
✈ STOL capability defined the Storch. Automatic leading-edge slats, large slotted flaps, and long-travel landing gear enabled very slow flight and rough-field work.
✈ Typical Storch power was an Argus As 10C V-8 of about 240 hp. Many airworthy examples today retain this engine or an approved equivalent.
