✈ Piper Aircraft is based in Vero Beach, Florida.
✈ Piper Aircraft was initially founded in 1927 in New York State and was originally known as the Taylor Brothers Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
✈ In 1930 William Piper purchased the Taylor Brothers Aircraft Manufacturing Company, leading to the company being renamed shortly thereafter.
✈ During the Second World War the Piper Aircraft Corporation became famous for manufacturing models such as the Piper J3 Cub and the Piper L4 Grasshopper.
✈ During the Korean War the company needed to rapidly expand and purchased land at Vero Beach Municipal Airport, where the company still resides today.
✈ In the 1960s the Piper PA28 Cherokee became the company’s first aircraft to enter production at Vero Beach. Versions of the PA28 are still being built today!
✈ Piper Aircarft are known as one of the “Big Three” aircraft manufacturers that’s made-up of Piper Aircraft, Cessna and Beechcraft.
✈ Piper Aircraft build an extremely diverse range of aircraft that includes Single Engine Pistons like the Piper Warrior, Multi Engine Pistons like the Piper Seneca, Single Engine Turbines like the Piper M600 and Multi Engine Turbines like the Piper Cheyenne.
✈ The Piper PA28 is one of the company’s most successful models. Over 32,000 have been built since the type first entered production in 1961 – the same year the Berlin Wall was built!
✈ Piper Aircraft’s Lock Haven campus was nearly destroyed back in 1972, as a result of flooding caused by Hurricane Agnes. The flood led to the loss of 100 aircraft, costing the company more than 20 million dollars in damages.
