American Champion is an aircraft manufacturer based in Wisconsin. The company produces a range of single engine piston aircraft that are in taildragger configuration. The American Champion Citabria first flew in 1964 and was designed to be a two seat aerobatic training aircraft. Did you know that the name “Citabria” is in fact the word “Airbatic” spelt backwards? The American Champion Decathlon was designed for training purposes and first flew in 1970. Since then over 6,000 models have been built! The American Champion Scout first flew in 1974 and was intended to be used as more of a utility aircraft. The aircraft is perfectly suited for bush flying, owing to its short take off and landing capability.
