The Beagle Auster is a four-seat, single-engine, piston-powered light aircraft that was designed and built by the British aircraft manufacturer Beagle Aircraft. The Auster was first flown in 1967 and entered production in 1968. It was powered by a Lycoming O-360 engine with 180 horsepower. The Auster had a maximum cruising speed of 135 knots (155 mph) and a range of 700 nautical miles (810 mi). It was primarily used for general aviation, including private flying, aerial photography, and charter flights. The Auster was also used by the military and police forces in several countries. It was produced until 1973, with a total of 121 aircraft being built. The Auster is now a rare aircraft, with only a handful of examples still flying. It is a popular aircraft among collectors and enthusiasts due to its rugged design and good performance. The Auster is also known for its distinctive appearance, with its high-set wings and large tailplane.
