Elixir Aircraft is a French light aircraft manufacturer that was founded in 2015, in La Rochelle. The company’s goal was to make a modern, safe and economic two seat touring aircraft and the result was “Elixir”. The company adopted lessons learned from the sailing industry to create what they call the “OneShot” construction, which allows for large sections of the aircraft (such as the wings) to be manufactured from a single piece of material, without the need for hundreds of parts, screws and joins that you get with more traditional aircraft manufacturing methods. There are several benefits of the OneShot construction such as fewer assemblies and less maintenance, thus lowering the operating cost of the aircraft. It also reduces the airframe’s overall weight and improves the laminar flow over the aerofoils.
