Enstrom Helicopter Corporation was an American helicopter manufacturer that was founded in 1959, in Michigan. The company is now owned by Surack Enterprises, which purchased the company in 2022. Enstrom Helicopter Corporation’s first helicopter was the Enstrom F28, which was a light piston helicopter powered by a Lycoming engine. The aircraft was introduced in 1965. The Enstrom F28 was improved over the years and the Enstrom F28B was fitted with a turbocharged engine, the Enstrom F28C was fitted with an improved engine and twin windscreen, the Enstrom F28F Falcon was fitted with a yet more powerful engine and the Enstrom F27F-P was the police patrol version of the series. The Enstrom F28 was developed into the Enstrom 280 Shark which featured several aerodynamic modifications and a more powerful engine. The Enstrom 280 Shark was developed into the turbine powered Enstrom 480 which first flew in 1989. The Enstrom 480B has an increased Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) and the Enstrom 480B Guardian was configured for aerial policing work.
