Hidden Damage When Buying an Aircraft

Home » News » Aircraft For Sale News » Hidden Damage When Buying an Aircraft

Detecting any hidden damage is a critical step to ensuring the safety, airworthiness and value of an aircraft. The best way to uncover hidden damage is to have a thorough Pre-Purchase Inspection completed by an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO). Carefully review the aircraft’s maintenance records, logbooks and other documentation. If any documents are missing, contact the AMOs that carried-out previous work on the aircraft. You may also be able to find records of any incidents on the Civil Aviation Authority’s website of the country in which the aircraft is registered. Examine the aircraft’s exterior for any signs of structural damage such as buckling, wrinkles or dents. If in doubt, seek advice from an Aircraft Broker or Approved Aircraft Mechanic.
