The Cessna 337 Skymaster

The Cessna 337 Skymaster is a unique twin-engine, push-pull configuration, piston aircraft known for its distinctive design and capabilities. One of the most distinctive features of the Cessna 337 is its push-pull engine configuration, with one engine mounted in the nose and another at the rear of the fuselage. This arrangement minimizes the effects of engine-out situations and improves performance. The push-pull setup offers added safety in case of engine failure, as the thrust is balanced, reducing the yawing moment compared to traditional twin-engine aircraft. Cessna produced the Skymaster series for a relatively short period from the 1960s through the 1980s, resulting in a somewhat limited number of units compared to other Cessna models. A Cessna 337 Skymaster was used in the late 1970s by explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes to complete the first transglobal circumnavigation via both of the Earth’s poles. The Cessna 337G Skymaster’s unique design and twin-engine configuration make it a standout in the world of general aviation.
