Welcome to Manchester’s ORIGINAL Airport! City Airport (also known as Barton Aerodrome), a thriving general aviation airport situated in the City of Salford, just 5 miles from Manchester City Centre.
Our goal is to ensure that City Airport can be a sustainable and thriving business and also a valuable and well respected aviation and local community asset.

Opening Hours Extensions
By prior arrangement, it may be possible to arrange extensions outside the above operating times for ad-hoc aircraft or helicopter movements.
Movements that require a licensed aerodrome are not permitted to operate outside the normal operating times unless additional RFFS provision is provided.
PPR Requirements
We are PPR. All visiting, and based aircraft returning after landing away should PPR with our Operations Team.
Rescue and Fire Fighting
CAT 1 Fire Cover (RFFS) CAT 2 on remission (during operational hours).
Aviation Fuel
AVGAS 100LL and AVTUR Jet A1 available (Pressurised on request)
(Please note we are unable to provide aviation fuel for non aviation use).
Fuelling closes 15 minutes prior to airfield close.

IFR Departures / Arrivals
Please note that City Airport does not have any instrument or approach / navigational aids. All arrivals and departures must operate under VFR/VMC only.
Pilots flying IFR should plan a routing that avoids controlled airspace and for arrivals must plan a suitable alternative in the event that flight conditions preclude flight in VMC on arrival.
