Description

Airfield vehicles can easily pick up small stones & grit just by going about their ordinary day to day business on the airfield. These same stones & grit can become lodged in the tyre tread. This debris can then be inadvertently transferred from the vehicle tyre to the taxiway or runway surface. The more vehicles in use the greater the problem.

APPLICATION
The Dewhurst Airfield Services Ltd F.O.D. PREVENTION STRIPS are a simple, cost effective method to help eliminate this problem. The strips are supplied & laid in pairs, to suit the vehicle track, at suitable locations where vehicles are likely to enter a runway, taxiway or apron area. The strips are designed to momentarily distort the vehicle tyres to simply dislodge any debris trapped in the tyres as the vehicle moves over them, leaving the vehicle F.O.D. free to proceed onto the aircraft movement area.

CONSTRUCTION / DIMENSIONS
The strips are fabricated from heavy-duty mild steel. Each track comprises of a flat bar frame 2m long x 0.6m wide, 18 cross members of 50 x 50 x 6mm angle sections are welded across the base frame. Securing holes are drilled at each end to enable the track to be permanently fixed to the pavement surface. The completed strips are finally hot dipped galvanised for durability and long life.
