MAK Aviation is an Authorised Training Organisation – ATO – (Highest level of Civil Aviation Authority) & a sociable flying club with flight school established in 1999 within easy reach of London & the Home Counties at Hertfordshire’s historic London Elstree Aerodrome. We offer an extensive range of training courses for General Aviation pilots & are always delighted to welcome newcomers to our growing family of flyers – from new students learning to fly from ab initio to qualified pilots with hundreds or thousands of flying hours behind them. In the world of aviation there is always more to learn & further to explore.

Our highly experienced flight instructors have guided many students from their first flying lesson through to the private pilot’s licence & far beyond – indeed some of our ex-students are now professional pilots themselves. With the UK PPL licence you will be able to fly family & friends anywhere in the world. Best of all, once you have earned your PPL there is nothing stopping you from gaining further ratings enabling you to fly in a wide variety of weather conditions, at night-time, or in complex & multi-engine aircraft.

London Elstree Aerodrome is open seven days a week from 9:00 in the morning, so get in touch or drop in for an informal chat whenever suits you to take advantage of our thousands of hours’ flying experience…& free tea/coffee, biscuits & wi-fi!

Trial Flying Lesson

A trial flight at London Elstree Aerodrome in one of our Piper or Cessna aircraft is a thrilling introduction to the exciting world of aviation, available as a flexible gift voucher (valid for six months from date of purchase). A trial flying lesson also makes an exciting gift idea for an adventurous friend or relation.

Flight Training
LAPL (Light Aircraft Pilot’s Licence) – This licence is a highly desirable qualification for pilots wishing to tour with family and friends without venturing overseas.
UK CAA PPL (Private Pilot’s Licence) – The first step towards true freedom of the sky, whether you are just planning on recreational flying with friends and family, or have your sights set on the Captain’s seat of a large jet.
IR(R) (Instrument Rating, restricted) – The IR(R) allows the PPL licence holder to operate in IMC conditions within the United Kingdom whilst remaining outside of the very tightly controlled ‘Class A’ airspace.
Night Rating – This rating allows the PPL or LAPL holder to fly at night under Visual Flight Rules. A most useful fall-back when you just need to get from A to B after dark.
