With a collection spanning over 150 years of aviation progress & developments – from the first adventures into the air right up to modern military jet aircraft, the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum collection has something for everyone!
Exhibits & Displays
There’s more than just aircraft to see! Every good aircraft museum has a wide range of aeroplanes & we’re no different! But what about the stories that are not often told? Our displays feature tales from everyday people in the Falklands War, the work of Spies & Secret Agents in occupied Europe during the Second World War, the pioneering days of flight & the story of the first air show in the UK – & that’s just the start.
Restorations
From complete nut & bolt rebuilds to cosmetic overhauls & everything in between, We have performed restorations on many aircraft in our collection. While some of the ongoing projects are visible to the public, most are worked on inside the Workshop which isn’t publicly accessible. If you’d like to see behind the scenes & see what goes on in the workshop & museum storage areas, send us an enquiry.
Group Visits
Schools, Car Clubs & Paranormal Investigations. Scouts, Air Cadets & Caravan Rallies. A group visit to the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum can be arranged with ease & to suit all requirements. We have a range of rooms available which can be set out to meet your needs, from business meetings to a classroom & everything in between. Our Education program can be tailored to suit all ages & whichever area of the National Curriculum currently being studied. Group Visits are subject to a discount entry rate. Volunteers make our museum! As a volunteer led museum, the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum is proud to welcome people of all ages, backgrounds & skill levels to our team. With a range of volunteering opportunities from helping to restore & maintain our displays, to making sure every visitor has an enjoyable experience, we have opportunities to suit everyone!
