UK Skydiving News13Skydiving is one of the most unique & exhilarating activities you could ever hope to participate in, & it has a long & exciting history. From famous skydivers to impressive jumps, there are plenty of skydiving facts to learn about. We’re here to recount some of our favourites & hopefully tell you something you didn’t already know about skydiving!!

The YOUNGEST skydive:

Did you know that the youngest person to ever skydive was four years old? The toddler didn’t accomplish the feat alone of course. It was a tandem jump made from a height of 10,000 feet.

The HIGHEST skydive:

Was held by Captain Kittinger, who jumped from a plane that was 102, 800 feet in the air. However, this record was broken in 2012 by Felix Baumgartner. In October of that year, Baumgartner jumped from a height of 128,100, significantly passing Kittinger’s record. This height equals almost 25 miles, & during the drop he managed to break the sound barrier.

GENERAL skydiving facts:

You may be surprised to learn that while falling, the wind moving against your face is travelling at more than 100 mph. Because of this, you are essentially deaf while skydiving. Good luck trying to carry on a conversation if you are jumping with a group – you could just wave & give a thumbs up instead.

Skydiving SAFETY

Finally, more than 3 million skydives take place each & every year. We are proud to take part in many of them, & we hope you’ll be joining us for at least one – Skydive at least once in your life!
