The Sea Harrier is the navalised-version of the Harrier and was primarily designed to provide close air support for both the Navy’s fleet and ground forces. The Sea Harrier gained fame in 1982 during the Falklands War, when they were successfully deployed in anger for the first time. The latest British model of the Harrier was the GR9 and the type was retired from service in 2010. The decision to retire the jet was quite controversial, since it left the Royal Navy without a frontline, carrier-borne jet aircraft for a number of years, until the F35 Lightning II entered service.

I believe the Italian and Spanish Navy are still operating the Harrier, however I’m not 100% sure. Let me know in the comments!
