Services

PRIVATE PILOTS LICENSE – PPL

On successfully completing a Private Pilots License (PPL), a pilot can fly the aircraft type they got trained on. They are allowed to do conversions to different types & models of aircraft as per SACAA regulations. With this license, a pilot is not allowed to fly for any type of reward. It is purely for those that wish to fly for the enjoyment of it. Various ratings are available for a PPL pilot & this can all be done under one roof, with Aviatech Flight Academy.

COMMERCIAL PILOTS LICENSE – CPL

After a student completes their PPL, they can immediately start building hours towards their Commercial Pilots License (CPL). Generally, when a student wishes to start a career as a professional pilot, they will take on & complete this license. There are a few SACAA requirements that need to be met before the student will receive their CPL. At Aviatech Flight Academy, we offer advanced training & hour building of 200 Hours of Coastal & Cross Border flying towards your CPL.

AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOTS LICENSE – ATPL

The airline transport pilot licence (ATPL), is the highest level of aircraft pilot certificate. Those certified as airline transport pilots (unconditional) are authorized to act as pilot in comm& on scheduled air carrier aircraft’s. This Course takes a lot of dedication & commitment & requires a total of 1500 Hours flight time.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR RATINGS

At Aviatech Flight Academy, we strive to support & assist our students in to becoming great & respectable Instructors after they have completed their PPL & CPL courses. Once you have achieved your instructors rating, you can build up your hours towards your ATP License. You start off with a Grade III Instructors Rating & thereafter you can even build your self right up to a respectable position of Designated Examiner (DE).

SIMULATOR TRAINING & TESTING

At Aviatech Flight Academy FAKR. We have a fully functional state of the art FNPT II Simulator that is rated by the South African Civil Aviation Authority for Training & Testing. On this specific simulator, we have four flight models namely a Piper PA28, PA28R, PA34 Seneca & a Cessna C425 Turbo Prop. Hour Building & Night Ratings are a dream on the simulator. We also have a Designated Examiner (DE) who regularly does IR (Instrument Rating) tests for Commercial Pilots as well as Instructor Rating tests.

GROUND SCHOOLS & BRIEFINGS

We have a wonderful air-conditioned classroom used for evening ground schools & briefings before & after flights. Safety meetings & other important lectures are also held at our classroom. Even thought it is not mandatory to participate, we encourage our students to participate in ground school lectures to assist them towards their PPL exams. We have full time Instructors that are always willing to assist the students in better understanding general aviation.

SACAA EXAM CENTRE

Aviatech Flight Academy is one of the few Flight Schools in Southern Africa that is registered with the SACAA to have an authorized exam centre, where you can easily write your Private Pilots License, Night Rating & Radio Exams.

SEAMS AVIATION AUDITING

At Aviatech Flight Academy, we are one of the few flight academy’s in South Africa to have a fully dedicated online paperless system called SEAMS. This makes our daily tasks much simpler & easier to do. With SEAMS on board, we are aiming for the Future in Aviation, making bookings, assessments, maintenance & management a breeze for both instructor & student alike.

FAQ

DO YOU TAKE ON INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ?

Yes, we accommodate & welcome all international students interested in doing their PPL, COM or ATPL studies at Aviatech Flight Academy. We are currently working on an International contract where we will be receiving a group of students internationally on a yearly basis.

WHAT TYPE OF AIRCRAFT DO YOU USE FOR TRAINING ?

At Aviatech we prefer to use the Cessna branded Aircraft’s as they are extremely reliable & well equipped with the necessary instruments required for all training purposes. We are currently doing the PPL training on the Cessna 152, Cessna 172 Variable Pitched Propeller & the CPL Training on the Cessna 210 Fuel Injected, Retractable Gear & Turbo Propeller. If you require training on other types or makes of Aircraft, we have many available on our company profile for your specified needs.

IS THERE ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE ?

Aviatech has accommodation available for students. The apartments are a few minutes’ drive from our school, so this would be perfect for them to be on time for lessons & reduces costs on transport. These apartments have a self-catering kitchen, living room, three bedrooms & shower/ bathroom. These are fully furnished apartments & therefore the student is only required to provide his own food & drinks. The apartments are very close to two major shopping centres, so it would be convenient for them to buy food & toiletries. The apartments will be cleaned twice a week as well as their laundry. Other than that, we will provide transport for the students so they don’t have to worry about being on time for classes & flights. Transportation is only available for those using our accommodation. The cost per student per month is R7000.00 (550.73 USD). Currency as it was while compiling this document & these costs are subject to change. This is payable six (6) months in advance.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ?

Since there are so many variables involved it is not possible to give a fixed quotation for obtaining a Private Pilot License. The legal minimum requirement in terms of flight hours is 45 hours but this is seldom achieved in today’s more complex environment. For budgetary purposes it would be safer for you to work on 55 hours, however, even this cannot be guaranteed by any flight training organization. The number of hours at which a candidate qualifies is dependent on individual performance & the environment in which the training is undertaken. At the Jack Taylor Airfield, statistics show that without any compromise to quality of training we are consistently way below the national average of 85 hours flown to PPL qualification. This is because the airfield is uncongested & is a facility where we are able to bring the best value to you in actual airborne time & training aloft. As an average, one can work on an investment of approximately R 118,000.00 (One hundred & twenty thousand Rand) for the Private Pilot qualification. This average figure includes all flight training, ground school, examination fees, licensing fees & medical certificate. It is important to note that all training is done on standard certified aircraft & not on ultra-light non-certificated type aircraft as at most other flying schools.
