1975 Piper PA28 180 Archer Single Engine Piston Aircraft (SOLD)

Wilco Aviation are thrilled to have exclusively listed this Piper PA28-180 Archer which has the later Lycoming 0-360-A4M benefitting from just undergoing a full engine overhaul & therefore suiting both a flying training organisation or private ownership. Extremely low engine hours & impressively low airframe hours for an aircraft of this age. She has always been well maintained & looked after by previous owners for quite sometime. Located currently at Netherthorpe Airfield (EGNF), UH complies with the Wing Spar AD 2020-24-05 & is ready to be flown away & used to its full potential. (Photograph for illustrative purposes only).

The first PA28 received its type certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1960 & the series remains in production to this day. Current models are the Warrior, Arrow, & Archer TX & LX, & the Pilot 100 & 100i. The Archer was discontinued in 2009, but with investment from new company ownership, the model was put back into production in 2010.

The PA28 series competes with the high-winged Cessna 172 & the similarly low-winged Grumman American AA-5 series & Beechcraft Musketeer designs.

The original Cherokees were the Cherokee 150 & Cherokee 160 (PA-28-150 & PA-28-160), which started production in 1961 (unless otherwise mentioned, the model number always refers to horsepower).

In 1962, Piper added the Cherokee 180 (PA-28-180) powered by a 180-horsepower (134-kW) Lycoming O-360 engine. The extra power made it practical to fly with all four seats filled (depending on passenger weight & fuel loading) & the model remains popular on the used-aeroplane market. In 1968, the cockpit was modified to replace the “push-pull”-style engine throttle controls with quadrant levers. In addition, a third window was added to each side, giving the fuselage the more modern look seen in most recent production.
