✈ CASA (Construcciones Aeronáuticas S.A.) was founded in 1923 in Spain and became a leading European builder of transport aircraft.
✈ The C-212 Aviocar first flew on 26 March 1971. Its boxy fuselage, rear ramp, and STOL capabilities made it ideal for freight, para-drop, and utility missions from short or unpaved strips.
✈ The CN-235 was co-developed with Indonesia’s IPTN (now PTDI). It first flew on 11 November 1983 and added a pressurized cabin, rear cargo ramp, and improved range for regional airlift and patrol work.
✈ The larger C-295 first flew on 28 November 1997. It carries heavier payloads than the CN-235 and is widely used for cargo, troop lift, medevac, and intelligence/surveillance roles.
✈ Powerplants reflect mission focus: the C-212 uses Honeywell (Garrett) TPE331 engines, the CN-235 uses GE CT7 series turboprops, and the C-295 uses Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127 series.
