✈ Glaser-Dirks Flugzeugbau GmbH was founded in 1973 by Gerhard Glaser and Wilhelm Dirks in Germany and later traded as DG Flugzeugbau; the company base moved to Bruchsal where today’s DG Aviation lineage supports the fleet and continues composite production and engineering.
✈ The DG-100 made its first flight in 1974 and more than 300 were built, establishing the DG brand in the Standard Class; the design grew from university projects at Darmstadt and set the template for the later DG family with glass and carbon construction.
✈ The DG-400 first flew in 1981 as a single-seat self-launching motor glider with a retractable engine and propeller produced in large numbers, which expanded mission flexibility for owners and remains a strong selling point on the pre-owned market.
✈ The DG-500 two-seater achieved its maiden flight on 19 March 1987 and evolved into multiple training, touring, and motorised variants; clubs value the model’s cockpit space, handling, and options for limited aerobatics depending on certification.
