Interesting facts about the Robin ALT
✈ The Robin ALT is a French two-seat trainer and tourer built by Avions Pierre Robin at Darois, near Dijon, to meet a low-cost flying-club requirement.
✈ The first prototype flew on 17 June 1983. France issued full type certification on 15 January 1986.
✈ The airframe mixes materials: a glass-reinforced plastic fuselage, a wooden wing, and a metal V-tail. The large bubble canopy gives excellent visibility.
✈ Designers swept the wing slightly forward to preserve the center of gravity after switching to a heavier four-cylinder engine during development.
✈ Standard power is a 48 kW (65 hp) JPX 4T60 series engine. The ATL “L” variant uses a 52 kW (70 hp) Limbach engine with dual ignition.
✈ Production ran in the mid-1980s to early 1990s. Records show about 132 aircraft built, including a small batch with Limbach engines.
✈ Late-series aircraft introduced a smaller propeller for better ground clearance and offered a long-range tank option.
✈ Typical roles include ab-initio training, hour building, and club touring. Operators value short-field performance and low running costs.
